L'Anse-au-Clair is a municipality ( town ) in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador . According to the municipal law of the province, the municipality has the status of a town .
The 2016 census revealed a population of 216 inhabitants for the municipality.
It is the southernmost village in the Labrador sub-province . The village has a post office, a shopping center, an ice rink, a garage, a gas station and a restaurant. L'Anse-au-Clair was founded by the French in the early 18th century.
