Långören

Långören is a small island in Blekinges östra skärgård, in the eastern Blekinge archipelago in Sweden . The island is next to the inland waterway that runs from Kalmarsund to Karlskrona . This shaped the living conditions on the island for 300 years.

The first inhabitants of the island were Håkan and Annika Kraak around 1706. Most of those who have lived on the island since then are their descendants (Långöraslägen). Her son Sven and his son-in-law Åke were the first pilots at the pilot station, founded around 1715, which was closed in 1960. The island has retained the character of a traditional pilot and fishing village, but most of the houses are now holiday homes. After the pilot station was closed, the house, equipped with a tower, was sold to the Karlskrona municipality in 1994. In 1999 the old pilot station was handed over to the Långören local history association. The pilot house ( Swedish lotshus ) is open from June to August.
