The former Löwenapotheke on Kornmarkt in Mühlhausen was built between 1707 and 1713. The previous building, which fell victim to a city fire, was built in the second half of the 16th century and also served as a pharmacy .

In 1992/93 there was a fundamental renovation and conversion to the "Brauhaus Zum Löwen", a brewery pub with a hotel, the only active brewery in Mühlhausen. In addition to the “Mühlhäuser Landbier”, a light beer from the Pilsner brewery , a black beer , the “Apotheker Dunkel” , is also brewed.
