LAC Veltins Hochsauerland
The LAC Veltins Hochsauerland is an association of athletics clubs in the Hochsauerland district . LAC is short for Athletics Center. The LAC is financially supported by the sponsor Veltins , a brewery based in the Sauerland. Another financial support is the association that has been set up.
history
The club was created in 1997 through the merger of two athletics communities in the Hochsauerland that had been in existence for a long time to form this center. Over the years, other small clubs joined the community and so the LAC, with currently 20 member clubs, is now the largest athletics club in Germany.
Board and trainer
1st chairman of the association is Thomas Vielhaber, 2nd chairman Volker Lehmenkühler. Nine other board members and numerous people working in the background enable the association to function. Four main trainers look after the athletes in their training and competitions. Most of the work in the association is voluntary.
Member clubs
The amalgamation of many small clubs enables them to set up strong training groups and organize a training camp. The following 20 members belong to the performance community: TV Arnsberg, TuS Bödefeld, TuS Bruchhausen, TV Calle, BC Eslohe, VfL Fleckenberg, TV Fredeburg, TuRa Freienohl, TV Herdringen, SSV Meschede, TuS Müschede, TV Neheim, TuS Niedereimer, TuS Oeventrop, TV Ostwig, TuS Rumbeck, TV Schmallenberg, TuS Valmetal, TuS Velmede-Bestwig, RW Wenholthausen.
Training camp
Every year the trainers and athletes of the club go to a common training camp for 8 to 10 days over Easter. The main participants are schoolchildren and young people. You will be divided into a technician training group and a pure running group. Training camps have so far taken place in Spain, Italy, Croatia and Germany. Usually the choice falls on Konstanz or Freiburg . In groups, the athletes master up to three training units per day in the stadium, forest and hall.
