The LDAX (also L-DAX , Late-DAX or L / E-DAX ) is a German share index that has been published by Deutsche Börse AG since November 2003 . It supplements the German share index (DAX) with pre- and post-market values and also has the same composition. The L stands for late , the E for early .
While the DAX is calculated every trading day from approx. 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CET / CEST on the basis of trading data from the Xetra stock exchange , the LDAX maps the prices of DAX shares outside of Xetra trading hours based on trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange . It is calculated before the trading session from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and after the trading day from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pre-market trading has only existed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since June 2011; from 2003 to 2011 the LDAX was therefore only available in evening trading from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The LDAX is primarily based on trading volumes from private investors, which are usually low compared to Xetra trading and are therefore less meaningful. In the opinion of its publisher, the XDAX is a better indicator of the DAX's pre- and post-trading development , because it is based on DAX futures trading on the Frankfurt futures exchange and completely covers the trading hours of the USA . Since February 4, 2016, Deutsche Börse has also been offering the combined index XDAXDAX , which combines the DAX and XDAX in a time series.
Deutsche Börse AG also publishes indices for early and late trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange for the MDAX , SDAX and TecDAX stock indices.
