La Balance ( French for Die Waage ) is a low island consisting of two rock slabs in the southwest of the Géologie archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Adélieland . It is located southeast of Governor Island in the Baie Pierre Lejay .
French scientists named it in 1977 after the zodiac sign Libra .
