La Gaceta del Norte was a Spanish newspaper that appeared in the city of Bilbao between 1901 and 1987 . It existed for almost ninety years and was one of the most important newspapers in Bilbao at that time.

For several decades it was the most widely circulated newspaper in the Basque press, reaching around 100,000 copies in the 1960s. However, a downward trend set in during the following decade, reaching its lowest point in 1979, the year the prevalence did not exceed 40,000. A phase of changes in the information strategy began under the leadership of Manuel González Barandiarán , but it was not possible to stop the downward trend. The edition was no longer sufficient and as a result, the sheet was finally discontinued in 1987 after several changes of ownership and design.
