Saliou Gueye

Saliou Gueye (* 1968 in Dakar , Senegal ) is a German- Senegalese politician .

Life

Gueye was born in 1968 in Dakar, the capital of Senegal on the coast of West Africa. From 1995 he studied spatial planning in Dortmund with a focus on development and migration policy. As part of an EU program, he completed a European master's degree with a focus on international humanitarian aid and human rights in Brussels. Then u. a. Speaker at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and district manager in Mannheim's largest district Neckarstadt-West .

Career

From 2007 to 2013 Gueye was the city's migration officer in Ludwigsburg. As the first member of African descent to a federal assembly , Saliou Gueye was allowed to vote for Federal President Horst Köhler in 2009 . His successor Joachim Gauck honored his social and political commitment and presented him with the Federal Cross of Merit in 2014 at Bellevue Palace . From 2014 to 2017 he was appointed by Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann to the sustainability advisory board of the state government of Baden-Württemberg. From 2013 to 2016 he headed the International City of Ulm coordination office in Ulm. In his hometown of Ludwigsburg, he has been head of the coordination office for municipal development cooperation since 2016. On July 23, 2020, he was elected district chairman of Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen by the municipal council and will take up this office on October 1, 2020. As an expert on migration and development policy, he is the jury chairman of the nationwide competition `` Commune Moves the World '', which is carried out by Engagement Global gGmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. He is the chairman of the Africa helps Africa initiative and founder of the Ludwigsburg Africa Days, which celebrated their tenth anniversary in 2018.
