La Pierre Dorée was the brand of a French industrial cheese made from raw goat or cow's milk , which was produced by the Union des Sociétés Coopératives Fromagères Françaises (SCOFF, formerly Bourdin, now the Coopérative Agricole Valcrest) in Givors in the Rhône department .

Manufacturing

It was a cheese made from raw milk with 60% fat, in the shape of a truncated cone, which was higher than it was wide and uneven. Its golden color was reminiscent of the golden stones used for buildings in Beaujolais , and that's how it got its name.
