La Sonora Carruseles are a Colombian salsa band that was founded in 1995 in Medellín ( Colombia ).

They play very fast dance music, salsa dura, but also styles similar to salsa such as boogaloo, which is a fusion of soul and salsa. Their music is inspired by the early salsa bands of the 1970s.

They celebrated their breakthrough in 1998 with their critically acclaimed second album "Heavy Salsa", which contains their hits "Micaela", "Ave Maria Lola" and "Al son de los cueros".

They are sometimes criticized for their too smooth commercial sound and their many cover versions.

The band was founded by Mario Rincón Pachanga . The band name Carruseles is a homage as a quote from a song by the band “Sexteto Miramar”.

The record label is the Latin American label "Discos Fuentes".
