The conquest of the bread
The conquest of bread (French original title: La Conquête du Pain , Russian: Chleb i wolja / Хлеб и воля / wiss. Chleb i volja) is a revolutionary work by the anarchist communist Peter Kropotkin (1842–1921). It was originally written in French and first appeared in a series of articles in the anarchist magazines Le Révolté (The Revolting) and La Révolte (The Revolt), on which Kropotkin collaborated. It was first published as a book by Tresse & Stock in Paris in 1892 with a foreword by Élisée Reclus (1830–1905) as No. 1 in the Bibliothèque sociologique .
Kropotkin had made mutual aid the foundation of his theory of communist anarchism early on .
The didactic character of the book is shown by his sentence: "Prosperity for everyone!"
The German translation by Bernhard Kampffmeyer is entitled Die Eroberung des Bread. Prosperity for everyone and is provided with a preface by Rudolf Rocker and drawings by Heinrich Vogeler .
