Labhrás Ó Murchú

Labhrás Ó Murchú is an Irish politician ( Fianna Fáil ), director general of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann , chairman of the Irish Family History Foundation , and chairman of Fondúireacht an Phiarsaigh .

Ó Murchú was first elected in 1997 for the Fianna Fáil in the Seanad Éireann . He was re-elected in 2002 and 2007. In July 2010 he resigned from the Fianna Fáil together with John Hanafin and Jim Walsh in protest against the government's Civil Partnership Bill . The three of them rejoined the party in November of the same year.
