Lacquer (be) clothing refers to clothing that has a surface that looks like it has been lacquered. B. Polyurethane or PVC coated fabric , so-called artificial leather , or patent leather with special coatings . Lacquer-coated clothing can consist of gloss lacquer or matt lacquer and is similar in gloss to latex clothing based on rubber.

In the sporting sector, matte varnish is preferred for rain jackets and rain suits, whereas gloss varnish is used for raincoats or varnish coats for women and men. Shoes made of this material ( patent leather shoes ) are often worn with festive clothing, also in dance sports as dance shoes , or with uniforms. Other items of clothing have a special meaning in the area of fetish clothing , similar to rubber fetishism .
