history

The founder and owner Dirk Rose (May 17, 1944) lived in Berlin until around 1980. After graduating from high school, he studied art history and, after graduating, opened a gallery in Berlin with a friend. In 1981 he moved to Hamburg and again opened a gallery for contemporary art: Galerie Rose. Until it was closed, it was one of the most important galleries in Hamburg showing contemporary art.

Dirk Rose closed the gallery at the end of 2015 due to lower sales.
