Lacus Oblivionis - Latin for lake of oblivion - is a frozen lava lake on the moon , which is similar to the larger Maria in terms of its origin . The name was established by the International Astronomical Union in 1976.

The small sea area has an average diameter of 50 kilometers and is located south in the middle of the back of the moon at the selenographic coordinates 21 degrees south and 168 degrees west.
