Ladbroke Square is a park-like garden in Notting Hill , West London , England .

Ladbroke Square is north of Holland Park Avenue not far from Notting Hill Gate . It is bordered by Ladbroke Grove in the west, Kensington Park Gardens in the north (with houses that face the park) and Kensington Park Road in the northeast. The street south of the facility is called Ladbroke Square.

history

Ladbroke Square was originally next to a racecourse known as the "Hippodrome", which was laid out in 1837 by John Whyte, but could not hold its own. The area was built on in the 1840s, the complex was given its present form in 1849.

Ladbroke Square is the largest of the 16 communal gardens on the former Ladbroke Estate . At 3 hectares, it is one of the largest private parks in London. The fenced area is only accessible to residents. The facility opens temporarily for an entrance fee.
