Lagarith is a very effective lossless video - codec and is free software ( GNU GPL ). It was developed by Ben Greenwood.
In many cases the codec is more effective than the HuffYUV , CorePNG, and LCL codec . On the homepage it is stated that the compression of a typical DVD movie is 10 to 30% better than with HuffYUV.
The codec offers the possibility to save the video in the color spaces RGBA , RGB , YUY2 and YV12.
The compression speed is comparable to HuffYUV and therefore very fast. For some time now, Lagarith has also mastered multithreading, which leads to a significant increase in speed on multi-core processors.
Lagarith uses the FOURCC code: lags .
