Lagg refers to a swamp at the edge of rain bogs in which released water collects.

From the center of the raised bog , which is usually arched upwards , the water flows down the steeply sloping wall through rills (small rivulets ). The water gathers at the foot of the rim wall and meets the surrounding water at the boundary between the peatland and mineral soil.
