Lagonda DP166

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lagonda DP166 was a sports car that was developed by Aston Martin in 1955 under the model name Lagonda .

Development history and technology

The DP166 was the successor to the DP115 and was a one-off. The chassis, the 310 hp 4.5 liter V12 engine , the gearbox and the power transmission were taken over from the DP115 . The body with an adapted radiator grille and improved aerodynamic properties was new.

Racing use

The DP166 was only driven once. Aston Martin entered the car for Lagonda for the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1955 . Reg Parnell and Dennis Poore were at the wheel . The failure after 93 laps was due to a mistake by the pit team who miscounted when touching the tank with cans. The car got stuck on the track without fuel and could no longer be started.
