Dennis Poore (born August 19, 1916 , in London ; † February 12, 1987 there ) was a British racing car driver .

Career

The factory owner got involved in racing in 1947 by purchasing an Alfa Romeo . He used this successfully in mountain races and, more rarely, in circuit races. In 1950 he became a British mountain champion. In 1952, his paths crossed with the Connaught team, with whom he, after all, a fourth in the Grand Prix of Great Britain in 1952 on a Connaught Type A reached. Later he started mainly in endurance races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans , and celebrated another victory at Goodwood in 1955 in an Aston Martin .

Although he never drove motorcycle races in his racing career, after retiring from racing in 1956, he became head of a motorcycle company that produced the brands AJS and Norton-Villiers , among others .

Dennis Poore died in 1987 at the age of 70.
