Laili (horse)

Laili (also Mare Laili ) was a war horse of Maharajah Ranjit Singh , the first ruler of the Sikh Empire in the Punjab region . In order to get the famous mare Laili he led a campaign against Sultan Mohammad Shah in Afghanistan, in which he lost 12,000 men. Ranjit Singh valued horses very highly and risked the life of his general Ventura and that of Raja Sher Singh for Laili . He kept several thousand horses.
