The Lake Rotoiti is a larger mountain lake in Nelson Lakes National Park on the South Island of New Zealand . It is fed by the Travers River and flows into the Buller River . Its greatest depth is 82 m. It is surrounded by beech forest. Saint Arnaud is a small community at the northern end of the lake.
There are hiking trails around the lake, including the Lakehead Track on the east side and the Lakeside Track on the west side of the lake. There is also a water taxi that transports hitchhikers to and from the Coldwater and Lakehead huts at the end of the lake. The lake is also popular for water skiing. There was also a ski slope on Mt. Robert until 2005, but it was closed by the Department of Conservation .
Introduced trout can be fished in the lake.
