In 2011, the survey tool went online after a one-year beta phase . LamaPoll founders are Maik Maibaum, Lars Langner and Stoyko Notev.

The software is characterized by high data security and high data protection . Server location is Germany . According to the company, the survey software was checked twice ( back and front end ) by the Federal Office for Information Security . LamaPoll can be used free of charge for a short period of time for non-commercial purposes in academia and schools.
