Lambeth Palace is the official London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury and is located in Lambeth on the south bank of the Thames , a few hundred meters upstream from the Palace of Westminster and on the east side of the river.

The archbishopric acquired the palace around the year 1200. Today it is known as the namesake and former meeting place (1867–1968) of the Lambeth Conference , which takes place every ten years , a gathering of the most important Anglican bishops.

In 2010 the Treasures of Lambeth Palace Library exhibition was held in the palace. It showed, among other things, the private collection of Archbishop Richard Bancroft , who bequeathed it to the library when he died on November 2, 1610.
