Lambic is a Dutch comic - online encyclopedia , consisting of an eponymous comic book store in Amsterdam was born. On the website lambiek.net you can find biographies of more than 13,000 comic book authors from all over the world in English.

Lambiek comic shop

The Dutch comics collector Kees Kousemaker (1942-2010) opened the comic shop Lambiek in 1968 in Kerkstraat 104 in Amsterdam . The name alludes to the figure Lambik from the Suske and Wiske series by Willy Vandersteen . The shop is considered Europe's first and world's longest-running comic book shop. The shop also has a gallery space for comic exhibitions or book signing sessions. In 1995, Kousemaker received the Will Eisner Retailer Award at Comic-Con in San Diego for his commitment to comic culture . In 2015 the shop moved to Koningsstraat 27.

The store's website went online in 1994. In addition to the store's webshop, treatises on the history of comics have already been published here. In 1999 the comic book encyclopedia was founded under the name Comiclopedia . It lists biographies of comic artists and scriptwriters with some illustrations of their works. With more than 13,000 contributions (as of 2017), it is one of the largest collections of biographies by comics creators in the world.
