Lamella (weaving)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A lamella is in the weaving a warp stop motion for those warp threads with which a compartment is formed. The strands are located between the spanning tree and the rearmost shaft on the lamellar support rail. They are lifted by the tightened warp threads so that they do not touch the rail. They fulfill their function as warp thread monitors in that if the warp thread breaks, the corresponding strand falls onto the strand support rail due to the lack of tension. This generates an electrical impulse, which brings the loom to an immediate standstill.
