Lamluda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lamluda is a village in what is now Libya , with extensive, but little-explored ancient ruins. It is perhaps the ancient Limnias ( Itinerarium Antonini 68, 70), although this identification is not certain. The place is about 28 km east of Cyrene . The site has never been the target of systematic excavations, save for a brief unpublished expedition. The place was probably a smaller town from the Byzantine era. There was a bathroom, at least a cobbled street, houses, and above all two churches. The western church stands within a cemetery from an underground burial complex carved into the rock.
