Land of Darkness is a novel by Nobel Prize winner VS Naipaul . It was published in the English original in 1964 under the title An Area of ​​Darkness .

The novel was written during Naipaul's trip to India in the early 1960s. Although Naipaul found his ancestors' village again during this trip, the country remained alien to him .
