Land of the Rising Sun

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Land of the Rising Sun became the national anthem of Biafras in 1967 .

The name is derived from the fact that the flag of Biafras featured a rising sun. The text of the hymn comes from a poem by the former Nigerian President Nnamdi Azikiwe and was considered lost for a while after the defeat and dissolution of Biafras in 1970. The well-known hymn " Finlandia " by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius was used as the melody .

The German translation of Land of the Rising Sun is generally used to denote Japan.

Land of the rising sun, we love and cherish,
Beloved homeland of our brave heroes;
We must defend our lives or we shall perish,
We shall protect our hearts from all our foes;
But if the price is death for all we hold dear,
Then let us die without a shred of fear.
Land of the rising sun that we love and cherish,
Beloved home of our brave heroes;
We have to defend our lives or go under
We will protect our loved ones from all enemies;
But the price is death for everything that is dear to us
Then let's die without a trace of fear.
Hail to Biafra, consecrated nation,
Oh fatherland, this be our solemn pledge:
Defending thee shall be a dedication,
Spilling our blood we'll count a privilege;
The waving standard which emboldens the free
Shall always be our flag of liberty.
Hail Biafra, holy nation,
O fatherland, let this be our solemn vow:
All our dedication is devoted to your defense,
Shedding our blood will be seen as a privilege;
The waving standard that encourages the free
Will always be our flag of freedom.
We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal,
And through the crucible unscathed we'll pass;
When we are poised the wounds of battle to heal,
We shall remember those who died in mass;
Then shall our trumpets peal the glorious song
Of victory we scored o'er might and wrong.
We shall rise triumphantly from this ordeal
And go through the crucible unharmed;
And when the wounds of battle are ready to heal
Then we will remember those who died en masse;
Then our trumpets will sound the glorious song of victory
Which we won through power and injustice.
Oh God, protect us from the hidden pitfall,
Guide all our movements read we go astray;
Give us the strength to heed the humanist call:
'To give and not to count the cost "each day;
Bless those who rule to serve with resoluteness,
To make this clime a land of righteousness.
Oh god, keep us from falling into the trap
Direct all our steps so that we do not fail;
Give us the strength to answer the call of humanity:
Daily 'to give and not count the cost';
Bless those who rule with determination
To create a land of justice out of this area.
