The Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung Rheinland-Pfalz is the successor to the former Rhineland-Palatinate state building administration and is now a real estate and construction service provider for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Landesbetrieb Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung (LBB) is the real estate and construction service provider for the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. His tasks include looking after and optimizing his own real estate portfolio according to economic aspects as well as implementing federal construction projects, including those for NATO, the guest armed forces, for the country and for third parties.

Landesbetrieb LBB emerged from the former state building administration in 1998. The aim of the new establishment was to work according to business principles, which was accompanied by the switch from cameralistics to cost and performance accounting. Controlling today provides important, authoritative information on ongoing business activities. The supervisory authority of the Landesbetrieb LBB is the Ministry of Finance of Rhineland-Palatinate, the technical supervision in the federal construction branch lies with the Federal Construction Office (ABB), Mainz.

The beneficial ownership of 550 properties with around 1,600 buildings is managed by LBB's own property management. The fixed assets amount to 2.2 billion euros. These include office buildings such as B. Ministries, tax offices and land registry offices, special properties such. B. Justice, police, forest buildings, museums and schools, colleges and universities.

LBB employs around 1,350 people. The company trains technical system planners, draftsmen and office clerks as well as construction trainees.

In 2019, LBB realized a construction volume of EUR 481 million (2018: EUR 380 million). The federal construction accounted for 288 million euros, the state construction 160 million euros.

Eight regional branches (Diez, Idar-Oberstein, Kaiserslautern, Koblenz, Landau, Mainz, Trier and Weilerbach) work under the umbrella of a head office in Mainz.

The real estate management area is subdivided into the areas of portfolio management, facility management and real estate controlling.

Construction project

The current major construction projects include numerous buildings for state authorities, new institute and research buildings at Rhineland-Palatinate universities, the new building of the Roman-Germanic Central Museum and the renovation of the state parliament in Mainz. One focus of the measures for the Bundeswehr is the new construction and expansion of the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz. A new clinic near Weilerbach is being built for the American guest forces and an extensive school building program (21st century concept) is being implemented. In the area of ​​castles, palaces and antiquities, measures are being implemented at Porta Nigra, Stolzenfels Castle and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
