State Student Council (Austria)

The State Schoolchildren's Representation (LSV) is the elected legal representation of the students of a federal state in relation to the education directorates , other authorities and the state parliament .

The state student council is elected by the school representatives of the respective federal state at the end of the school year . A state school spokesperson and several deputies are elected for each area from the school types general secondary schools (AHS), vocational middle and high schools (BMHS) and vocational schools (BS) . The number of state student representatives fluctuates, depending on the size of the state, between 4 and 8 people per area. In addition, there are 4 to 8 substitute members who move up if a member of the regional student council can no longer perform his or her function.

In the most populous federal states of Vienna, Lower Austria and Upper Austria there are 8 members per area, in Tyrol 6, Styria, Salzburg and Carinthia have 5 members. In the two smallest federal states, Vorarlberg and Burgenland, the LSV consists of 4 members per area.

The three state school spokespersons of each federal state are also members of the federal student council .
