Pargas rural community

The rural municipality Pargas ( Swedish Pargas landskommun , Finnish Paraisten maalaiskunta ) is a former municipality in Finland . It lay in the archipelago off the coast of the Varsinais-Suomi region in southwest Finland . The rural community Pargas was established in 1948 when the main town Pargas was separated from the surrounding rural community as an independent market town ( köping / kauppala ). In 1967 the rural community reunited with the market town. Ten years later, this received city rights. In 1963 the rural community Pargas had an area of ​​248.1 km² and 3,820 inhabitants, around two thirds of which were Finland-Swedes .
