Staffel is a district of the Lautertal (Odenwald) community in the Bergstrasse district in southern Hesse .

Geographical location

Staffel is located north of the main town Reichenbach in the Vorderen Odenwald in a small western side valley of the Wurzelbach , which flows into the Modau near Hoxhohl . The district extends in the west to the ridge over which the high path known as the Hutzelstraße leads from the Staffeler Kreuz north to Frankenhausen . To the west of Hutzelstrasse are two individual farms: the Krämerhof on Staffeler Kreuz and to the north of it the Kohlwiese farm .

The closest localities are Reichenbach in the south, Balkhausen in the south- west, Stettbach and Steigert in the north-west, Ober-Beerbach in the north, Allertshofen in the north-east, Schmal-Beerbach in the east and Beedenkirchen in the south-east .

history

The earliest surviving documentary evidence proves the existence of the place Staffeln at the latest since the year 1400. Originally Staffel was a pure farming village with about 10 farms. The name actually means stairs and points to the tiered position of the courtyards scattered on the hillside.

Staffel was incorporated into Beedenkirchen in early 1970 in the run-up to the regional reform in Hesse and became part of the Lautertal community on December 31, 1971. Since then Staffel has belonged to the Beedenkirchen district and to the local advisory council and mayor there .

traffic

For regional traffic, Staffel is opened up by the state road  3101, which connects Balkhausen with Hoxhohl via the Staffeler Kreuz . In Wurzelbach it crosses the L 3098, which creates a connection to the main town of Reichenbach in the Lauter valley and where it joins the federal road 47 known as Nibelungenstrasse .
