Map paper
Map paper is a weatherproof and durable type of paper with particularly good dimensional stability , such as is used for maps and other outdoor applications ( thematic maps , wiring plans , etc.). The requirements for map paper are in DIN 6728 .
Essential properties of map paper are:
- Dimensional accuracy - that means little change when influenced by humidity and air temperature
- Water resistance - durability in the rain up to about a minute, as little abrasion as possible on damp paper
- Resistance of the printing inks ( e.g. lightfastness )
- High foldability , yet as tear-resistant as possible in the fold (high number of double folds)
- Can be produced in large formats up to about DIN A0 .
