The landscape protection area Altenhof / Papenstück / Haus Ruhreck with an area of 21.44 hectares is located in the area of the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

The LSG in Hagen-Boele is only surrounded by built-up areas. The through road Schwerter Strasse runs through the LSG.
There are only forest areas in the LSG. In the reserve, the Malmkebach and its tributaries an important link between the highly structured grassland and arable areas west of Boele. In the forest complex Ruhreck stands, built in 1878 Villa Ruhreck . The building, similar to a castle, was built by the wagon manufacturer Caspar Diedrich Killing as a representative residence in the neo-Gothic style.
Protection purpose
According to the landscape plan, the designation was carried out "to maintain and restore the efficiency of the natural balance, in particular by securing and restoring a coherent stream system in the populated area and because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the landscape, in particular because of the contiguous forest complexes and strongly structured grassland areas with a refuge".
