The landscape protection area Balve - Mittleres Hönnetal with 4,745.66  hectares is located in the town of Balve in the Märkisches Kreis . It was designated for the first time in 1989 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan Balve - Mittleres Hönnetal with an area of ​​4,913.46 hectares as a landscape protection area (LSG) of type A (general landscape protection) with the name landscape protection area Mittleres Hönnetal . The LSG covers large areas that are outside of the built-up area and other protected areas with stricter requirements. In the LSG there are mainly forest areas, grassland and fields.
