The protected landscape area Elsper Senke-Lennebergland, type B with 426.31  hectares is located in the district of Olpe . It was designated in 2006 by the district council of the district of Olpe as a landscape protection area (LSG) of type B (special landscape protection: "Protection of the meadow valleys") with the landscape plan No. 2 Elsper Senke-Lennebergland . The LSG is located in the Lennestadt area . The LSG extends to the outskirts of the settlement.

Protection purpose

The designation as LSG type B is largely for the same reasons as the designation of LSG type A, but is more aimed at safeguarding the nature conservation and aesthetic potential of the designated valley areas.

Legal regulations

In the landscape protection area, among other things, the erection of structures and the drainage of groundwater, even when waterlogged, are prohibited. Initial afforestation and the new planting of Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are also prohibited. Initial afforestation of indigenous floodplain and / or scrub forests with hardwood for the development of wet forest habitats is possible with a permit from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority . In the LSG, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority can, upon application, permit an exception to the construction ban for the expansion of existing farms and other buildings, as well as public supply and disposal facilities, if the construction project is compatible with the protection purpose. In the LSG, there is also a ban on plowing permanent grassland into arable land. Paving of arable areas in the LSG is possible after prior coordination or approval with the Chamber of Agriculture .
