The landscape protection area wet grassland around Rixen with 52.78 hectares is located to the west, north and east of Rixen in the urban area of Brilon . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the landscape plan of the Brilon plateau . The LSG is directly adjacent to the village. The Langenbruch (Brilon) with its wet pastures belongs to the LSG .

description

In the western part of the LSG it is a large, compact grassland area. Several drainage ditches with a slight gradient to the north cross the area in the western main part. The trenches flow into the Bieke stream in a small-scale hillside location with stronger relief. The source area of the Bieke itself is located in the LSG northeast of the intersection of the K 57. In this area, several near-natural source streams converge, which are largely accompanied by alder-dominated wood fringes and moist grassland tubs. The Bieke flows through the Rixen locality in the LSG.

The landscape plan explains the LSG: “With its stream-accompanying wood, the small-structured grassland areas in the locality and its compact (wet) grassland upstream of the western edge of the village, the protected area is also of considerable importance for the townscape and landscape; both can hardly be separated here due to the loose development. "

Protection purpose

The designation was carried out to maintain, supplement and optimize a grassland biotope network system, in particular with the nature reserve designations in grassland. In this way, animals and plants should retain the opportunity to migrate and spread. Like the other type C landscape protection areas, this designation also serves as a buffer zone for adjacent nature protection areas.

Conservation measures

The Association for Nature and Bird Protection in the Hochsauerlandkreis (VNV) bought a damp spruce area in the Langenbruch area in the LSG in 2007. After the non-site spruce stock was removed, the area became an extensively used meadow.

Regulations in the LSG

The wet grassland landscape protection area around Rixen has been designated as a type C landscape protection area , meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland . In the landscape protection areas of type C of the landscape plan area, initial afforestation and the creation of new Christmas tree cultures, ornamental branches and tree nursery cultures are prohibited. Furthermore, there is a ban on converting grassland and fallow land into arable land or other forms of use. A maximum of two years of arable use within twelve years is permitted, provided that this prepares the renewal of the sward. This is considered an extended nursing shift . In the case of the extended care break , a minimum distance of 5 m from the central water bed must be maintained. For the cultivation of renewable raw materials, an exemption from the ban on plowing up grassland is possible as part of a case-by-case assessment.
