Meschede landscape protection area
The Meschede landscape protection area is located in the urban area of Meschede and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) in 1994 with the Meschede landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The LSG is one of 102 landscape protection areas in the city of Meschede. In the city there is a type A landscape protection area, 51 type B landscape protection areas and 50 type C landscape protection areas. The Meschede landscape protection area has been designated as a type A landscape protection area , large-scale landscape protection or general landscape protection.
The landscape plan does not indicate any area size. After designation, larger areas were removed from the landscape protection area and built on. On earlier LSG areas, for example, B. the federal highway 46 built. The LSG belongs to the Arnsberger Wald nature park north of the Ruhr and to the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park south of the Ruhr .

The LSG covers a large area of all areas in Meschede that are outside of the building area and other protected areas. In the LSG there are mainly forest areas, furthermore large areas with open land (grassland and arable land) and smaller areas with Christmas tree , ornamental twigs and tree nursery cultures . The LSG sometimes extends to the edge of the settlement.
Protection purpose
The designation was made to secure and maintain the natural suitability for recreation and the efficiency of the natural balance against the diverse civilizational demands on nature and landscape.
Legal regulations
As in the other landscape protection areas in the urban area, the LSG prohibits the construction of structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the prohibition ( Section 35 (1) No. 1 and 2 of the Building Code ). The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue special permits for buildings of all kinds.
