The landscape protection area Restmoorfläche near Ochtelbur is a landscape protection area in the district of Aurich in the state of Lower Saxony . It bears the number LSG AUR 00012 and lies entirely in the area of the municipality of Ihlow .
Description of the area
The landscape protection area, designated in 1974, covers an area of 0.19 square kilometers and is located between the villages of Riepe and Falkenhütten. The Geest runoff Blitz forms the western boundary to the agricultural areas . It consists largely of degenerated raised bog areas and is the habitat of many animal and plant species that have adapted to this habitat. There are isolated hand peat stitches.
According to the Aurich district, the area is of "special importance for the history of the landscape"
Protection purpose
The general protective purpose is the "maintenance and development of a strongly structured residual moor area with stocks of ghost smoke, various woody plants and pipe grass and heather stocks."
