The Wellingsetal landscape protection area with 51.5  hectares is located in the Märkisches Kreis in the area of ​​the town of Balve . It was designated for the first time in 1989 by the district council of the Märkischer Kreis with the landscape plan Balve - Mittleres Hönnetal as a landscape protection area (LSG) of type B (special landscape protection) with the name landscape protection area Wellingsetal southwest Kesberg .
