Country house in Zeven

The Zevener Landvolkhaus is located at Meyerstraße 15-17 in the city of Zeven . His story is closely linked to the life story of Hinrich Jacob Meyer (1826–1906), who was also known in his home region as "Gold Meyer" and through donations. Today the building is known as a “country house” and houses various institutions and companies.

history

The building was built by Hinrich Jacob Meyer and his wife Margaretha (d. 1895) after their return from America on the site of the farmer Otto Peters (house no. 85) acquired by them in 1881/82. After the death of HJ Meyer, the house was transferred to the privateer Peter Heins. In 1908 the district veterinarian Franz Szillat bought the building before it became the property of the lawyer Dr. Langrehr passed over.

In 1926, the Landbund of the district of Zeven became the owner of the 4583 square meter property with the existing buildings after the Landbund members in the district of Zeven had raised the purchase price by taking over shares. After the forced dissolution of the Landbund, it had to be transferred to the Reichsnährstand in 1937. Only after the end of the Second World War was the property returned to the Landbund's successor, the Landvolkverband Zeven. During the last phase of the war, the building was used by the Wehrmacht as a disease hospital, which is why it was neither used nor entered for a long time. Until the beginning of 1958 the girls' department of the agricultural school Zeven was housed in the house.

Individual evidence

  1. Ewald Albers points out that there were also delays in the entries made by the land registry in the Zeven building book and in the Zeven property tax parent. In his contribution "Goldmeyer in Zeven - Wrapped in Legends", in "De Sood", No. 24, he took over the years entered there.
  2. The year 1933 is also mentioned as the year of transition to the Reichsnährstand. (Landvolk-Kreisverband Zeven (Ed.), "Landvolkverband Zeven 1950 - 1990. Did you know? History & stories from four decades", o. O., o. J., page 13)
  3. The years 1947/48 are also mentioned as the period of transfer back to the rightful owners. (Landvolk-Kreisverband Zeven (Ed.), "Landvolkverband Zeven 1950 - 1990. Did you know? History & stories from four decades", o. O., o. J., page 12).
