Long night of industry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Long Industry Night is a joint campaign by various companies in the manufacturing sector and industry- related logistics in Germany. It serves the public relations of the industry in a region. Companies open their factory gates to registered visitors on such a night. The companies take part in this campaign in order to be open and transparent and to position themselves as employers and trainers in the region. The IHKs and business associations are responsible for the events. The event format was selected in 2012 as a location in the “ Land of Ideas ”.

origin

The Long Night of Industry is based on other successful nights such as the Long Night of Museums or the Long Night of Science . The concept does justice to the special conditions that lead in a manufacturing company brings with it. The requirements for planning, occupational safety , hygiene and protection against spying have a significant influence on the organization of the event. Among other things, participants have to apply online to take part in the free tours. The tickets will be drawn from among the applicants.

Idea and process

The Long Night of Industry gives interested people an otherwise impossible look behind the scenes of industry - companies get to know their target groups directly on site. The tours are free of charge for visitors. A kick-off event will take place at one or more starting locations (in some regions), at which high-ranking speakers have their say. Usually the patron, IHK management and board members of participating associations greet the participants. After boarding - the participants are registered by name for security reasons and are also known to the companies - the coaches start their tours at the same time (but regionally at different times). A trained tour guide is on board on all buses.

Each participant experiences two companies in one night - each company receives two groups of 40 to 50 participants to visit in one night. Through presentations, tours and dialogues, schoolchildren, students, job and apprenticeship seekers, professionals from helper to university graduates and people with general interest experience industry in a vivid, authentic, “hands-on” way. The companies are involved creatively and operationally, as they design the program “ex works” themselves.
