Long winds

Long winds was a hamlet in the area of ​​the municipality of Motzlar in Thuringia , which was deserted by border security measures in 1972 .

Long winds lay about 1200 meters east of Motzlar and 800 meters south of the Oberrothhof directly on the state border with Hesse. The neighboring Hessian town of Sinslösungen is about 900 meters to the southeast. Today, through the incorporation of Motzlar in 1994, the corridor belongs to the municipality of Schleid (Rhön) in the Wartburg district in western Thuringia .

The hamlet was mentioned in 1480 as "too long Wienden". He belonged to the Geisa office of Fulda .

Until 1972 it consisted of three farms with three families. On August 8, 1972, the district was surrounded by the police. Two families were immediately relocated to Motzlar and their houses were demolished a short time later. The third family left Lang Winds in November 1972 because they had been informed that sooner or later they too would be resettled "to ensure security in the border area".
