Laodikeia
Laodicea ( Greek : Λαοδίκεια; Latin : Laodicea , in Germanized form Laodicea , sometimes Laodicea) is the name of at least six ancient cities that were founded in the Hellenistic period after the Seleucid queen Laodice of the 3rd century BC. Were named. These include:
- Laodicea ad Mare , today Latakia, Syria
- Laodikeia on Lykos , near today's Denizli, Turkey, once metropolis of Phrygia Pakatiane. It is the last of the seven churches that John addresses in the Apocalypse (see Rev 3: 14-22). This city was also the site of the Council of Laodicea in the 4th century.
- Laodikeia Katakekaumene in Galatia
- Laodikeia in Phenicia, today's Beirut
