Andrew Mutambo Sinkala (born June 18, 1979 in Chingola , Zambia ) is a former Zambian football player .

Player career

societies

Sinkala began playing football in the youth division of the Nchanga Rangers , the club in his native city, near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo . In 1998 he received a licensed player contract with the first division and two-time champions Nchanga Rangers FC. Discovered by those responsible at Bayern Munich while he was taking part in the U-20 World Cup , he was signed for their second team. He played his first competitive game for Bayern's professional team on December 1, 1999 in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup in a 3-0 away win against SV Waldhof Mannheim , when he came on for Paulo Sérgio in the 84th minute . His Bundesliga debut took place on December 11, 1999 (15th match day) in a 3-0 win in the away game against FC Hansa Rostock when he came into play in the 79th minute - also for Paulo Sérgio, the two-time goalscorer . He played 40 games in two seasons for Bayern's Regionalliga team and scored seven goals.

For the second half of the 2001/02 season Sinkala was given to the league competitor 1. FC Cologne , but could not prevent relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga with his eight appearances in which he scored two goals . During his time with the Domstadt team (until 2005/06 ) he matured under coach Friedhelm Funkel (in the 2nd Bundesliga) to become a regular player, experienced both relegation and promotion twice and six head coaches. For the billy goats , Sinkala played 36 first division (3 goals), 47 second division (1 goal) and 8 third division games (for the 2nd team in Regionalliga Nord ) (1 goal), as well as 10 DFB-Pokal games (3 goals) . Shortly before the end of his contract, which was dated until the end of the 2005/06 season, the club - now under coach Hanspeter Latour - sought an early separation, as Sinkala was unable to meet the expectations set by his coach. Sinkala received the clearance for a free transfer after the training camp in the winter break.

From 2006 to 2008 he played 34 times for the second division club SC Paderborn 07 . Before his two-year contract expired, after a severe pneumonia and early tuberculosis at the beginning of 2008, Sinkala's professional career seemed to come to an early end due to the approaching unemployment.

To keep himself fit, he trained with FC Augsburg , the club of his former coach Holger Fach . A little later he signed a one-year contract with the Augsburgers, which was extended by one year in May 2009 to June 30, 2011 and from May 2011 to June 30, 2012. On the last day of the 2011/12 season , he was officially adopted as the club did not extend the expiring contract. After Sinkala was initially without a club for a few months, the regional league team FC Viktoria Köln , with whom he had already kept fit for a month , announced Sinkala's commitment at the end of October 2012.

After two seasons for FC Viktoria Köln, he moved to the district club and the Middle Rhine regional league club SG Köln-Worringen on August 1, 2014 .

National team

Sinkala took part in the U-20 World Cup , which was held in Nigeria from April 3 to 24, 1999 , and was used in the three group matches . In the last group game, which was lost 5-1 to Brazil , he scored his only goal during the tournament. For the senior national team he played 22 times and scored one goal. He succeeded on June 18, 2000 in the World Cup qualifier against the selection Angola when he scored the opening goal in the 1: 2 defeat. He made his debut in the national jersey on June 20, 1999 in Kinshasa in a 1-0 victory over the national team of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in qualifying for the 2000 African Cup . He took part in this, as well as in the years 2002 and most recently in 2006 , played all three group games, but never got beyond the group stage. He played his last international game on October 10, 2009 in Chilabombwe in the 1-0 defeat in the World Cup qualifier against the selection of Egypt .

Coaching career

In the summer of 2014 Sinkala became the new assistant trainer of TuS Homburg-Bröltal . At the beginning of May 2020, FC Hennef 05 announced that Sinkala would be Marek Dabrowski's new assistant coach for the U19 team there.
