Las Capillas is a small village in north-western Argentina , 6 km east of the village of Iruya , in the Iruya department of the same name in the Salta province on the border with the Jujuy province . It is located on the eastern slope of the Sierra de Santa Victoria at an altitude of 4100 m and can be reached all year round via an unpaved road from the town of Cóndor .
Las Capillas is part of the Finca el Potrero. Twelve families live in the place. There is a small infirmary as well as a primary school called "Maria Auxiliadora" (escuela Nº4283) with a teacher and 6 students aged between five and twelve years. The village is not connected to the power grid, but has a small solar system for lighting and heating water.
