Routing slip

A routing slip is an aid for process or tracing , on which any necessary stages must be noted.

The completion (e.g. by ticking ), the person involved and the date or time of the note are noted. The aim is to be able to seamlessly document the stages of a process .

Routing slips were u. a. to be found in many libraries until the end of the 20th century , where they helped to document the history of lending ( lending and returning). With the widespread introduction of electronic aids (library user cards with magnetic strips or chips) and central inventory databases ( OPAC ), however, the importance of the classic paper-based docket has sunk to almost zero at the beginning of the 21st century.
