Launceston and South Devon Railway

Launceston and South Devon Railway was a British railway company based in Devonshire , England .

The company received on June 30, 1862 the concession to build a 31 km long railway line from Tavistock to Launceston . In Tavistock there was a connection to the South Devon and Tavistock Railway . On June 1, 1865, the line was opened in the broad gauge of 2140 mm. The South Devon Railway took over the Launceston and South Devon Railway on June 24, 1869.
