Laura Alves

Laura Alves Magno (born September 8, 1921 in Lisbon , Portugal ; † May 6, 1986 ibid) was a Portuguese actress who is widely regarded as one of the most important actresses in Portugal of all time. She was also called "Queen of the Stage".

Life

Laura Alves first attended dance lessons at the Conservatorio Nacional and took to the stage for the first time at the age of nine, followed by civil education at the Escola Machado de Castro , before she finally appeared on the country's stages as a professional actress from 1935, primarily in the theater Monumental .

Laura Alves, who was considered highly talented, celebrated great success on Portugal's theater stages. She danced and sang and was active in almost all types of theater: comedies, tragedies, dramas, operettas . She was not so fond of film and television, which is shown by her narrow oeuvre , which only extends from the early 1940s to the late 1960s and comprises only 11 films and one series.

The actress was married to the theater impresario Vasco Morgado and was the mother of one son.

The legendary actress died on May 6, 1986 at the age of 58 in her hometown of Lisbon.

Honors

A street in Lisbon is named after her. The documentary " Laura Alves- Evocaçao de uma atriz " was filmed just a few weeks after her death and was broadcast in 1986, the year of her death. In 2012, for her 85th birthday, RTP honored her with a new, important documentary entitled " Laurinha ".
